LAHORE: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) now stands fully revived as an electoral alliance, claims Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Talking to reporters after a marathon meeting of the alliance here on Thursday night, he said the MMA would soon approach the Election Commission of Pakistan for registration so that it could fulfil all legal and electoral requirements, allowing this alliance of religious parties to contest election from a single platform.

He said the alliance had been formalised by constituting a “general council” — a prerequisite for the revival of alliance as per its constitution.

“With the formation of general council, which will elect other office-bearers, the MMA now stands fully revived. Our first preference will now be meeting all legal requirements to turn it into an electoral alliance,” he said.
