MANSEHRA: Four people were killed when a speeding truck ran over a cab in Ghazikot area here on Friday.

“The driver of the truck lost control over the wheel as a result of which it crushed a taxi cab, killing four people riding the car,” Mohammad Rafique, the traffic in-charge, told reporters at the accident site. The truck, which was on its way to Mansehra from Abbottabad also overturned after hitting the car.

All the passengers onboard the cab sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, but they all expired. The dead were identified as Saiqa Bibi and her daughter, Ariba, 4, cab driver Bashir and an unidentified woman.

Kinza, 12, stated to be daughter of Saiqa, received critical injuries and was referred to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad where her condition was stated to be serious.

The bodies were handed over to families after completion of the medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, four houses were gutted after a fire caused by electricity short-circuit broke out in Siren valley in wee hours on Friday. The incident took place in Schain locality where houses of Mohammad Dildar and his brothers — Mohammad Shabir, Abdul Qadeer and Duryaman — were destroyed. The local people sprinkled mud and water on the fire, putting it out after hectic efforts of many hours.
