LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri on Thursday announced launching a mass protest campaign from The Mall on Jan 17 to get justice for the Model Town martyrs, Zainab and those killed by police in Kasur.

“All options are open and [we] can go to any extent,” he warned.

At a news conference after a meeting of the multi-party conference’s action committee, Dr Qadri hoped that central leaders of all political and religious parties would participate in the protest against the government. In order to chalk out post-Jan 17 protest strategy, he said, the political and religious parties’ action committee would meet on Jan 16.

Holding Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah responsible for the Kasur incident, he said justice could never be dispensed till the perpetrators of injustice would continue sitting in the corridors of power. “We will go to any extent to get justice,” he said.

The action committee made it clear that the Jan 17 protest would be peaceful and any interference to sabotage the protest by police force would be dealt with an iron hand.
