Army chief in Senate

Published December 25, 2017

IT was for the first time in the history of Pakistan that the army chief along with directors general of ISI, military operations and Inter-Services Public Relations came to the Senate to brief Senators on the army’s role and security concerns.

It is not clear who invited Gen Qamar Bajwa for the briefing. This now cleared the misconceptions being spread by the disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif that it is the army which is behind the Supreme Court verdict.

I wish proceedings of this historic event were made public so that the people would have known that the army was not against democracy and it accepted the supremacy of parliament.

The damage done by the political leadership to state institutions has destroyed the morals and ethical values of society.
