LARKANA: As many as 6,900 policemen will be deployed to provide security during the 10th death anniversary programme of Benazir Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on Dec 27.

Talking to media at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh near here on Thursday, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal said foolproof security arrangements would be made during the event. He said personnel of the traffic police, Special Branch and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) would also be deployed under monitoring of DIGs and SSPs.

He said that a meeting had already been held in this connection, participated by DIGs of Larkana and Sukkur, Abdullah Shaikh and Khadim Rind, respectively.

He said a large number of party workers would take part in the anniversary gathering from across the country. PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would announce a party policy on the occasion, he said.

In reply to a question, Mr Siyal confessed that the biggest issue in Sindh at the moment was of sugar cane growers, who were agitating on roads.
