BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) may field Ali Tareen, son of former PTI secretary-general Jahangir Tareen who was disqualified by the Supreme Court on Friday, for the NA-154 by-election from Lodhran.

According to sources in PTI, the possibility of issuing PTI ticket to Ali Tareen also came under discussion during a meeting between PTI chief Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen in Islamabad on Saturday.

They said the PTI Core committee would take a final decision.

The NA-154 will witness second by-poll in five years term of assembly. Each time the sitting MNA was disqualified under section 62 of constitution.

During the 2013 general election, Muhammad Siddique Khan Baloch was elected MNA as an independent candidate. He joined the ruling PML-N later.

Jahanagir Tareen challenged his election and won as the election tribunal declared him disqualified for life.

Siddique Baloch filed appeal against his disqualification in the Supreme Court which altered the decision of his disqualification for life and ordered by-election in NA-154.

Jahangir Treen won the 2015 by-election by defeating defeating Siddique Baloch of PML-N.

PML-N circles in Lodhran say Baloch is a strong candidates for the fresh ballot.
