Imported hobs

Published December 18, 2017

LAST week I had to change the cooking hob in my kitchen. I have two hobs and I replaced the existing locally manufactured burner with an imported hob made in Italy.

I noticed that the imported hob even with a smaller burner than the locally made hob would cook quickly. On further examination, I found out that the imported one had totally blue flames whereas the local burner had yellow flames mixed with blue.

This goes to show that the local burners are consuming more gas to give out the same heat. Why doesn’t the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research or gas companies do some research and suggest designs to the local manufacturers to incorporate the changes in their products.

They just have to suggest the size of the jet of the burner and mixture of gas with air. This can result in savings of at least 15 to 20pc gas energy.

The same can be recommended for room gas heaters. This will reduce the gas bill by more than 40pc.
