SHANGLA: The Awami National Party has awarded its ticket for the National Assembly seat in the district to opposition leader in Shangla district council, Sadeedur Rehman, and that of PK-88, Shangla-II, including Puran tehsil, to Faisal Zeb Khan for the general elections 2018.

Sources said that several candidates were interviewed by the party’s provincial president Haider Khan Hoti at Bacha Khan Markaz, Peshawar, and the award of tickets was finalised.

They said that two people, including MPA Mohammad Rashad Khan of PML-N and QWP Shangla chairman Muttawakil Khan, were likely to join ANP. PML-N provincial chief Amir Muqam is likely to contest next election from PK-87. They said that the ANP leadership had kept pending decision on the ticket of PK-87, Shangla-I, for the time being.

Both ANP ticket-holders Sadeed and Faisal were opposition leaders in the district council and tehsil council, respectively, and they would resign from their council seats in case of contesting general elections.

ROADS REOPENED: Roads blocked by landslides and snow in parts of Shangla district were cleared for traffic on Thursday.

The district administration had shifted heavy machinery to clear roads from snow and landslides. The Karakoram Highway was also reopened to traffic after whole day’s closure at Bisham area.
