BADIN/MITHI: Pakistan People Party (PPP) Sindh president and a senior provincial minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Sunday described certain component parties of the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) as cronies of dictators.

“These political orphans have join hands due to fear of defeat in the next general elections as PPP is getting stronger across the country, besides in Sindh,” he told party activists at a gathering held at Jamali House in Badin late on Saturday evening.

Mr Khuhro said that PPP always stood against dictators and blocked their way, and added that it’s PPP which waged a long struggle against dictatorship and restoration of democracy. The struggle was no being spearheaded by the third-generation PPP led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who would definitely become the next prime minister, he said.

He said PPP would for sure triumph in the next general elections and form its government both at the Centre and all provinces.

Earlier in the day, speaking to party workers and the media in Mithi, the senior PPP leader said that the party was ready to join “genuine political forces” to send corrupt and inept leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and their cronies back home as soon as possible.

He told a gathering of party activists at Malani House that now when the elder brother [Nawaz Sharif] had been disqualified, it was the younger brother’s [Shahbaz Sharif’s] turn to follow suit as he [the latter] “is directly involved in the infamous Model Town bloodshed and other such incidents in Punjab”.

The two brothers, he said, had become a “high risk” for the democratic dispensation in the country.

He claimed that the mammoth PPP show recently held in Islamabad had perturbed its opponents, and predicted that no force on the earth could stop PPP from coming to power at the Centre and in all provinces.

Commenting on the dismemberment of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Mr Khuhro said that its factions were busy befooling the Urdu-speaking community after the party became rudderless and leaderless. He told the MQM-Pakistan leader, Dr Farooq Sattar, to stop dreaming of dividing Sindh on ethnic grounds. He also ridiculed Dr Sattar’s statement that the MQM-P would be able bring in its own chief minister after the next general elections.

Mr Khuhro also ruled out any possibility of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan becoming the prime minister. “The Niazi Khan will get nothing in Sindh barring a few spent cartridges,” he remarked, and said the PTI was also not destined for power corridors.

In reply to a question asked by a reporter, Mr Khuhro said no government in the past had given as much attention to Tharparkar as was given by the PPP government. He said the present government was doing its best to mitigate the sufferings of Tharis and bring about prosperity in the district. In this regard, he referred to several mega projects including Thar Coal Power Project. He said the media should also highlight the other aspects like massive development being carried out by the government in this district.

Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Engineer Gyan Chand, Comrade Nand Lal Malhi and other PPP leaders also spoke to party workers.
