KOHAT: A fifth grade student was killed and another one suffered injuries during firing between two armed groups in Jarma on the Indus Highway here on Wednesday.

The police said that one Jameel came face to face with his rivals Naeem and Farhan in Ajab Noor village and opened firing at them, but the two escaped unhurt.

However, two children Hazrat Bilal of fifth grade and Zahidullah who were going to school were injured in the firing.

They were taken to the KDA Teaching Hospital where Hazrat Bilal succumbed to his injuries while Zahidullah was admitted.

The Jarma police registered a murder case against Jameel on the complaint of Bilal’s father Mohammad Rehman.

GANG BUSTED: The Shakardarra police on Wednesday busted an alleged three-member gang of bank dacoits wanted by the Punjab police.

The SHO of Shakardarra police station, Afzal Awan, told mediapersons that he had got information that the gang was hiding in area on Mianwali-Sabirabad road.

He said that Shah Mehmood, Wahid Ali Shah and Shah Mohammad, all belonging to Punjab, were arrested during a raid. A car and three pistols were also recovered from them.

They were handed over to the investigation police and would be shifted to Punjab for trial in crime cases.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Ilyas Khalid ordered a crackdown on female beggars and expulsion of non-locals from the district.

Chairing an open forum of councillors and nazims of 25 union councils at district council hall on Wednesday, he also asked the tehsil municipal administration to make a plan for a separate market for butchers and fish and chicken sellers.

Tehsil nazim Taimoor Khan and heads of government departments were also present on the occasion.
