KHAR: A shop was burnt in a mysterious fire that broke out in Sadiqabad Bazaar in Bajaur Agency’s Khar tehsil on the night between Friday and Saturday, residents and officials said.

They said a garment store owned by one Bacha Khan situated at Markaz market caught fire at midnight.

Soon after the incident, watchmen rushed to the spot and tried their best to stop the fire, but they failed to control it.

Later, officials of Levies force along with fire brigade also reached the area and prevented the blaze from reaching to the adjacent shops.

The cause of the fire was yet to be confirmed as there was no electricity in the shop for the last several days.

However, officials of the administration said they had launched an investigation into the matter.

They added that two watchmen of the bazaar had been arrested to help the administration in proper investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the shop owner claimed that he had suffered a loss of Rs1 million in the incident, and demanded that the authorities compensate him for the losses.
