LARKANA: Sindh Senior Minis­ter for Food and Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has termed the demand for early elections a conspiracy against democratic system and said “come what may, Sindh will not dissolve assembly before the end of its tenure”.

He said at golden jubilee and foundation day programme of Pakistan Peoples Party at Arts Council on Wednesday night that political change should come only through fair elections held on time.

He said that the Constitution did not allow formation of national or technocrats’ government. Careta­kers should take over only after the assemblies completed their tenure, he said.

Mr Khuhro, who is also PPP Sindh president, said that talk of early elections was tantamount to sabotaging the system. Caretaker government should only be formed after completion of Sindh Assembly’s tenure and caretaker chief minister should only be appointed with the consensus of the leader of the house and leader of opposition, he said.

He said that it was Nawaz Sharif who had violated Charter of Democracy and now he was calling himself champion of democracy though he was the one who deceived Benazir Bhutto by forming All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM).

Mr Khuhro asked why Mr Sharif was crying now after his disqualification and claimed that a tug of war was going on between Sharif brothers, which proved PML-N was incapable of ruling the country.

He called Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, PML-N, MQM and GDA products of dictators and said that those who talked about “umpire’s finger” were attempting to defame army.

He said that since the birth of PPP, dictators and their remnants had been hatching conspiracies against the party but it had always emerged unscathed.

He said that he was confident Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari would become next prime minister after 2018’s general elections and said those who led pro-Kalabagh Dam rallies in past were now claiming to form government in Sindh. They would once again face defeat, he said.

He recalled that Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Syed Muzaffar Shah had tabled a bill in Sindh Assembly that sought to snatch away right to job in multinational companies in the metropolis from the youths of all districts except Karachi.

He said that PPP had bravely faced all ups and downs and stood by people through thick and thin. PPP leaders had never escaped the country nor begged apologies from dictators, he said.

PPP leaders Aijaz Jakhrani, Abdul Fatah Bhutto, Gul Mohammad Jakhrani, MPA Khursheed Junejo, MPA Mohammad Ali Bhutto and others also spoke at the programme.
