QUETTA: Two personnel of the Frontier Corps were martyred and four others injured in a landmine explosion in the Sangan area of Sibi district on Wednesday.

Levies officials said a team of the Sibi Scouts was patrolling the area when the landmine planted along the roadside went off.

“Two FC soldiers embraced martyrdom and four others sustained injuries,” security officials said, adding that FC troops deployed in the area rushed to the site soon after the explosion and shifted the bodies and the injured to Combined Military Hospital.

Later, the injured soldiers were airlifted to Quetta for treatment because of their critical condition.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the attack and regretted the loss of lives.

“The menace of terrorism will be purged from our country and the nation stands united with our security forces against terrorists,” he said while extending his sympathies to the bereaved families.
