KARACHI: High court allows appeals

KARACHI, Oct 20: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Muhammad Roshan Essani and Justice Mohammad Mujeebullah Siddiqui on Monday allowed two appeals of ex-secretary Sindh Land Utilization Department and set aside the conviction awarded to him by the trial court.

Appellant Ramesh Udeshi was sentenced to a seven-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) with fine of Rs2,00,000 by an accountability court in Karachi on July 10, 2000 in two separate National Accountability Bureau references against him on charge of misuse of power.

Former chief minister Abdullah Shah and others were declared absconders in said references. — PPI
