Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa travelled to Riyadh on Monday to hold meetings with King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.

A statement issued by PM House said that Abbasi and King Salman "reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations in addition to the regional and international issues".

They also discussed ways and means to further enhance the bilateral relations in diverse fields, it added.

The meeting comes a day after Muhammad Bin Salman hosted defence ministers from various nations for the formal launch of the Saudi-led military coalition against terrorism.

Abbasi lauded the efforts of the Saudi leadership in bringing peace and stability to the region and assured the Saudi king of full support in this regard.

During his meeting with the crown prince, Abbasi reportedly praised his vision for launching the national economic transformation plan 'Vision 2030' and offered Pakistan’s technical and human resource assistance in achieving the vision.

The Saudi prince underscored that there was great potential for further strengthening the bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and defence.

Conferences of the "41-nation pan-Islamic coalition" are underway in the Saudi capital. Pakistan's former army chief Gen Raheel Sharif joined the alliance as its top commander in April this year.

Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar also accompanied the prime minister on the trip to Riyadh.
