LAHORE: Malik Amir Mohammad Khan of Kalabagh, former Governor of West Pakistan, was today [Nov 26] shot dead allegedly by his son at the breakfast table at his residence in Kalabagh.

According to police, the late Malik Amir Mohammad’s youngest son, Asadullah Khan, entered into a heated argument with him over property. Enraged at his insolence, the Malik fired at his son wounding him in the left shoulder.

The son, it is further stated, retaliated and fired six shots from his revolver at him. Five hit the former Governor in the chest. He died instantaneously.

Asadullah Khan is at present under house arrest in the residence of his late father. He has been given medical aid and is out of danger.

The late Malik Amir Mohammad was buried tonight after post mortem conducted by the Civil Surgeon. The funeral was attended by his relatives, friends and officials.

The Inspector-General of Police West Pakistan Mr Salahuddin Qureshi, dashed to the scene of the tragic incident. Before his departure, he held urgent conferences with the Provincial Chief Secretary, the Provincial Home Secretary and other officials of the West Pakistan Government.

He is himself supervising the investigations and is likely to stay at Kalabagh till the completion of these investigations.

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Lahore,] a warm welcome was accorded to the West German Chancellor, Dr Kurt Georg Kiesinger, when he arrived here this afternoon [Nov 26] on his first ever visit to Pakistan as Head of the German Government.

Governor Mohammad Musa welcomed him at the Lahore Airport as the Chartered Lufthansa plane touched down the Pakistani soil at 2.25 p.m.

Dr Kiesinger, who was accompanied by his wife, was later introduced to the Provincial Cabinet Ministers, MNAs, MPAs, the elite of the town and German nationals living in Lahore.

The German Ambassador Herr Guenther Scholl, the Chief of Protocol M. Tayyabji, and the Pakistan Ambassador in West Germany Mr Abdur Rahman Khan were also present at the airport to receive the German Chancellor and members of his entourage.
