LAHORE: Admission to 34 private medical and dental colleges in Punjab will be completed in accordance with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) Regulations 2016.

“No private medical or dental college is authorised to carry out admission by itself and only candidates admitted through the centralised admission policy will be registered by the UHS and the PMDC,” said a spokesperson on Friday.

Applications for admission to 34 private medical and dental colleges, affiliated with the University of Health Sciences (UHS), would be received till Nov 30.

As many as 2,016 applications have been received so far for admission against 2,700 MBBS and 625 BDS seats in the 34 medical and dental colleges, said the spokesperson while advising candidates to submit their applications by due date at the UHS, Lahore, Rawalpindi Medical University, Rawalpindi and Nishtar Medical University, Multan.

Regarding criterion for admission against foreign, overseas or self-finance seats, the spokesperson said the applicant should hold a permanent foreign nationality or dual nationality or be an overseas Pakistani student, having physically studied and passed SSC and HSSC or equivalent examination, with at least 60 per cent marks, from outside Pakistan during his stay abroad and should have a certificate from the institution last attended to the effect.

The applicant has appeared in a provincial/regional admission test for medical and dental colleges for the current year or has passed SAT II (Subject) with minimum 550/800 marks each in Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Mathematics or has passed American MCAT with minimum aggregate score of 24/45 (498/528), said the spokesperson.
