ME: power politics

Published November 23, 2017

POWER game between two regional powers, Saudi Arabia and Iran, is dividing the Muslim world on sectarian grounds.

Realistically speaking, Saudi Arabia can be the only country which can resolve issues in the Muslim world, in general, and the Arab world, in particular.

It should acknowledge Iran as a regional power. It cannot ignore the rich Iranian history and Persian culture and the existence of educated Iranian youth in the energy-rich country.

It will be better for Lebanese premier Saad Hariri to return to his own country. Saudi Arabia should realise that present circumstances are giving a win-win situation to Israel where the cause of self-determination of Palestinians is turning to dust.
