Model housing scheme launched

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said the provincial government has launched Khapal Kor Model Housing Scheme through bank home finance to settle the accommodation problems of government employees and general public.

Under the scheme, he said, low-paid government servants and citizens could also become owners of the houses on payment of marginal rates.

He announced this while addressing the balloting ceremony of plots allotment for government employees in Jalozai Housing Scheme, Nowshera, at the Chief Minister House here on Wednesday.

Adviser to CM on Housing Dr Amjad Ali, secretary housing Syed Waqar ul Hassan, director general housing, BoK officers and other officials of housing department were in attendance.

Initially, construction of five-marla houses has been started through bank home finance in Jalozai, Mulazai, Jarma and Dheri Zardad, said Mr Khattak.

He said 20,000 government officials and 200,000 general public, including overseas Pakistanis, were being given residential facilities in the first phase, costing Rs376 billion. “All this financing will be made by commercial banks that will be returned by the allottees in easy instalments in 20 years.”

Mr Khattak expressed the confidence that the housing schemes initiated by his government would not only be completed timely but quality of work be maintained with having all basic civic facilities of international standards.
