QUETTA: Bad economic policies are responsible for the death of innocent people as the youth has no other option but to escape abroad due to the increasing unemployment in the country, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sentaor Sirajul Haq on Tuesday.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected office- bearers of the party’s youth wing in Quetta, he said that a large number of young people were joining hands with the JI in the four provinces.

“Economic policies of the federal government have failed to resolve the economic crisis being faced by the country. This is causing unrest and anxiety among the youth who were not getting jobs despite completing their education,” said the senator.

He added that this situation was forcing youths to find out jobs abroad and going there illegally in search of work.

“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has done nothing for the youth of Pakistan,” he said, adding that he was concerned over the prevailing situation in the country.

“The JI gives great importance to the youth as they are the future of Pakistan. The party will allot 50 per cent of the party’s tickets to the youth in the 2018 elections and extend full support to the young candidates in the local bodies’ elections,” he said.

The party chief also said that it was the JI that started the campaign against corruption to expose those involved in looting and plundering the country’s resources.

“We cannot compromise on the issue of corruption and will continue the struggle to establish a corruption-free society,” he said.

“The young people of Pakistan can save the country from the crisis it is facing right now due to the government’s bad policies,” he added.

JI’s provincial emir Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi, general secretary Abdul Kabir Shakir and JI’s youth wing president Jamil Ahmed Mashwani also spoke at the event.
