KARACHI: The Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan continued its sit-in at the Numaish traffic intersection for the third consecutive day on Monday.

The protestors demanded action against those who were involved in changing the words of the oath taken by parliamentarians.

Their central leadership had been staging the same protest in Islamabad since last several days.

The spokesman for the Tehreek — an umbrella organisation of several parties representing the Barelvi school of thought — said the protest in Karachi was first staged on Saturday and called off in the evening after a few hours.

“On Sunday afternoon, it was decided that we should stage the protest once again and continue it just like in Islamabad until our demands are met,” he added.

The protest is severely affecting the flow of traffic in adjoining localities and on nearby roads of Numaish.

A statement issued by Karachi traffic police advised commuters to avoid the affected roads and take alternative routes.

“Traffic coming from Shahrah-i-Quaideen is being diverted to Kashmir Road and Corridor III and vehicles at Guru Mandir are being moved to People’s Chowrangi,” the statement said.
