SAHIWAL: A girl was allegedly axed to death by her stepbrother in the name of honour in village Christian Wala, Chak 174/9L.

The victim was identified as Saira while the suspect was identified as Irfan. The reports said the suspect who was elder brother of Saira attacked her with an axe on the night between Saturday and Sunday and critically injured her. Irfan himself shifted Saira to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Sahiwal where she succumbed to her wounds on Sunday morning.

Ghaziabad SHO Rana Tahir said the police had got a tip-off from the village about the incident and they confirmed it from the hospital. The family was bringing Saira’s body back to village in an ambulance when Chichawatni DSP Amjad Javed Kamboh and SHO Tahir intercepted it. Seeing the police, Irfan escaped from the ambulance while the police took body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
