ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa said on Friday that the highest level of preparedness would be maintained against perpetual threat from India on the Line of Control (LoC) and Line of Actual Contact (LAC).
“There cannot be any let-up in our preparedness for response against perpetual threat on our eastern border, including LoC/LAC,” Gen Bajwa was quoted by the ISPR as saying after a briefing at the 10 Corps Headquarters, which is responsible the region’s security.
The army chief, the ISPR said, was given a comprehensive briefing on the situation along the LoC and LAC and operational preparedness of formations.
The LoC is the line separating India-held Kashmir and Azad Kashmir, whereas the Line of Actual Contact is the 140km-long line beginning in the Siachen Glacier region and running up to the northernmost demarcated point of the India-Pakistan ceasefire line.
The Foreign Office has on several occasions warned that continued ceasefire violations threaten regional peace as these could lead to a ‘strategic miscalculation’.
