KARACHI: Exporters to European Union (EU), Switzerland and Norway have been advised to get registered under EU’s Registered Exporters (Rex) System for origin certification by Dec 31.

As per EU regulations for Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) all the beneficiary countries, including Pakistan are required to completely switch to the Rex system for getting certification of origin.

Accordingly, issuance of certificate of origin by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for the GSP schemes of the EU, Switzerland and Norway will cease after Dec 31, said an official announcement.

After this date only registered exporters will be able to issue Statements On Origin (SOO) themselves in respect of their shipments to these countries.

Therefore, it is advised that exporters should immediately get themselves registered with the system by completing requisite formalities.

In this connection TDAP had been regularly organising orientation and training seminars in major cities of the country for the benefit of exporters to explain details of the Rex system, its registration process, and rules of origin for the EU-GSP scheme.
