KARACHI: Karachi Greens dominated the opening day after their five boxers stormed into the semi-finals in the two-day All-Sindh Allama Iqbal boxing tournament which commenced at the Begum Nusrat Bhutto Community Hall, Faqir Colony, Orangi Town, on Thursday.

Karachi Greens are followed by Mirpurkhas whose three boxers propelled into the last four — one in under-14 and two in under-16.

As many as 59 boxers from across Sindh are competing in the event. Five outstation boxers failed to turn up.

The semi-finals will take place on Friday morning followed by finals in the evening.

Results:

Under-14 (quarter-finals):

34 kg: Imran (Karachi Greens) bt Farhad (Karachi Whites) 3-0; Mohammad Tabarak (Sukkur) bt Ayaz (Larkana) 2-1; Muzammil (Karachi Yellow) bt Zahid (Mirpurkhas) 3-0.

36 kg: Sameer (Karachi Whites) bt Habib (Hyderabad) 2-1; Nasin (Larkana) bt Rizwan (Benazirabad) 3-0; Sohail (Sukkur) bt Naimatullah (Karachi Whites) 2-1.

38 kg: Abdul Rehman Qambrani (Karachi Greens) bt Ameenullah (Sukkur) 3-0; Zahid Ali (Mirpurkhas) bt Shayan (Karachi Whites) 3-0.

42 kg: Shahbaz (Karachi Greens) bt Shehroz (Mirpurkhas) 2-1; Naveed (Benazirabad) bt Karim Bux (Hyderabad) 2-1.

44 kg: Shiraz Rana (Karachi Yellow) bt Aman Qambrani (Karachi Greens) 2-1;

Samar (Karachi Whites) bt Mukhtar (Larkana) 3-0.

Under-16 (quarter-finals):

46 kg: Murtaza (Mirpurkhas) bt Ali Raza (Larkana) 2-1; Shahbaz Jan (Karachi Greens) bt Noor Ahmed (Sukkur) 2-1.

48 kg: Sajid Rasheed (Karachi Greens) bt Umer Khan (Mirpurkhas) 2-1; Ashan (Sukkur) bt Arsalan (Larkana) 3-0.
