NAB raids Karachi Development Authority office, arrests director

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) conducted a raid at the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) office in Civic Centre on Thursday in connection with an ongoing inquiry against former KDA director general (DG) Nasir Abbas.

The NAB team arrested Director Syed Obaid Ahmed and seized crucial records pertaining to offences committed by the accused.

He was arrested on leads gathered by the investigating team after interrogations by Abbas, who is already in NAB’s custody.

Ahmed is prima facie involved in approving amenity plots for illegal use and will soon be produced before an accountability court for physical remand.

Abbas's custody was transferred from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) — which was interrogating him for falsifying information to obtain a passport — to NAB early last month. The bureau is investigating his alleged involvement in corrupt practices under Section 9 (a) of NAB Ordinance 1999.

Good Job. You should nail them good so other learn lessons. NAB is doing excellent job through out Pakistan. I am proud of their leadership and staff doing what suppose to be done right at the first place.

@ANWAR S SYED . St.Louis, MO. USA Only against non-Punjabis, nothing is happening to the Shareefs and others involved in corruption in Punjab. Has NAB arrested Gen Kayani's brothers involved in RS 20 billion scandal in Lahore and Pindi DHS case, another Ch Arshad involved in land grabbing case where he has pocked billions over several years is roaming free. Recently Punjab government secretaries have registered fake companies and were found to have embezzled RS 80 billion. NAB active in smaller provinces and soft in Punjab is open injustice and simply unacceptable, NAB has employed 98% Punjabis doesn't mean that the officials think to show soft corner to fellow Punjabis.
