KARACHI: The nation today [Oct 27] celebrates the Revolution Day in a spirit of rededication to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.

Colour and festivity will mark the countrywide celebrations. Youth rallies, marchpasts, symposia, Mushairas and special documentary film shows will be the highlights of the Day’s celebrations. The day has been declared a closed holiday throughout the country.

National flags will be hoisted on all public buildings. Thanksgiving prayers for the prosperity and consolidation of Pakistan will be offered in places of worship.

Public and private buildings and shopping centres have been decorated and sweets will be distributed among children in the schools. All important Government and other buildings will be illuminated tastefully to mark the occasion.

In Karachi the Revolution Day programme will begin with a convention of the Basic Democrats at the Muslim Gymkhana Ground. It will be inaugurated by the Commissioner of Karachi.

The KMC Chairman, Mr Pervez Butt; the Deputy Commissioner, Mr Khalid Mahmud; the Chairman of the Landhi-Korangi Town Committee and the KDA’s Chief Town Planner will speak on various topics connected with planning and development.

The Landhi-Korangi Municipal Committee has planned weeklong celebrations, including students’ marchpast, sports meet and prize distribution. There will be a marchpast and physical display at 4.30 p.m. today by school children at the PWR Stadium at which the Commissioner will take the salute.
