PESHAWAR: Milli Muslim League (MML) has announced that it will soon launch its membership campaign across the country.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, MML central president Prof Saifullah Khalid said that a strategy had been chalked out to launch a four-month-long membership campaign in the country.

He added that the organisational structure would be set up after completion of the membership campaign in all the provinces.

He said that the party would take part in the 2018 general elections, for which it would also make electoral alliance with other political parties.

He said that MML had fielded its candidate in NA-4, Peshawar-IV, after getting votes in by-polls on NA-120, Lahore. However, he alleged that the federal government had started creating hurdles to MML before its recognition by ECP as political party.

Mr Khalid said that his party had approached the Election Commission of Pakistan for registration as political party in Aug 2017.

He claimed that the federal government and interior ministry were pressurising ECP for not accepting MML as a political party.

Flanked by other party office-bearers, he alleged that the federal government didn’t want the party to actively participate in political activities because of the alleged pressure by India and US.

He clarified that the party workers had never indulged in any type of negative activities anywhere in the country.

He urged the ECP to recognise MML as a political party so it could take part in political activities.
