KARACHI: Zubair Raja and Noor-e-Mustafa have claimed their respective berths in the semifinals of under-16 singles event in the 1st Beaconhouse Open National Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship 2017 here on Tuesday at the Karachi Gymkhana.

Zubair Raja overpowered Hashish Kumer recording a 7-6, 6-4 victory.

Meanwhile, Noor-e-Mustaf dispatched Asim Gul registering a 6-4, 6-1 victory. In an under-12 quarterfinal encounter, Asher Mir thrashed Sagar recording an 8-2 win.

In soft tennis event semifinals, Robin Das defeated Kamran Ahmed by 5-3 score while Eibad Sarwar Hussain Khan overcame M Abdul Saeed by 5-3 score.

In U-18 second round matches, Nauman Aftab thrashed Obaid Hassan by 6-0, 6-0 score while Sheeraz Bhand of Hyderabad overpowered Saad Saleem by 6-0, 6-1 score.

Noor-e-Mustafa beat Asim Gul by 6-2, 6-2 score while Hyderabads Zeeshan dropped a set before beating Haseeb by 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 score.

Zubair Raja defeated Hashish Kumer by 6-2, 6-4 score. Parbat Kumer registered an immaculate 6-0, 6-0 win against Musab Umair. Hassan Farooq defeated Mohammad Ali by 7-5, 6-0 score. Oanuddin received a walkover against Mujahdullah Khattak.

In the under-14 singles pre-quarters, Rayyan overpowered Arish Virani by 6-1, 6-3 score. Ghafran Faiz came out of the court triumphantly after beating Sufyan 6-0, 6-0.

Mahatir Muhammad received walkover against Mohammad Yousuf. Hasnain beat Mustafa by 6-3, 6-2 score. Taha Amin entered quarterfinals after his opponent Arham retired from the match. Taha was leading the match by 6-0, 1-0 score.
