ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has set up a parliamentary board to select candidates and distribute party tickets in Sindh in preparation for the general elections expected to be held in July 2018.

The 10-member parliamentary board is headed by the party’s chairman Imran Khan. Other members of the board are PTI’s vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, secretary general Jahangir Tareen, Asad Umar, Dr Arif Alvi, Ali H. Zaidi, Liaquat Jatoi, Iftikhar Soomro, Imran Ismail, Firdous Naqvi and Haleem Adil Sheikh.

The party has already formed parliamentary boards for the selection of candidates in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) ahead of the polls.

The PTI chief, Mr Qureshi and Mr Tareen are the chairman, vice chairman and secretary general, respectively, of both the boards. MNA Asad Umar has been nominated as member of both the boards as well.

The body will work for party’s preparation for next elections

Other members of the Punjab board are: Amir Kiani, Aleem Khan, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Ishaq Khak­wani, Shafqat Mehmood and Chaudhry Sarwar. Members of the KP board include Pervez Khattak, Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan, Shah Farman, Zar Gul Khan, Mahmood Khan and Ali Amen Gandapur.

After a meeting of the PTI’s central executive comm­ittee on July 8, Mr Khan had predicted that the country was heading towards early general elections.

He claimed that his party had already started preparations for the polls and would soon start announcing candidates in batches.
