KARACHI: The top two seeds — Asjad Iqbal and Shahid Aftab — fell prey to outsiders which ended their unbeaten run in the Jubilee Insurance third ranking snooker championship at the Karachi Gymkhana on Monday.

Former Pakistan No 1 Khurram Agha stunned top seed Asjad 4-2 (74-30, 13-55, 89-1, 69-50, 16-83, 64-16) while Mohammad Ishtiaq sent Shahid packing in the fully stretched battle (19-79, 0-48, 70-18, 87-24, 23-54, 100-0, 62-14).

In yet another minor upset, 17th ranked Zulfiqar A. Qadir shocked 13th ranked and former Asian junior No 2 Mohammad Majid Ali 4-3 to confirm his place in the last eight from group D.

Zulfiqar won the duel 34-61, 78-55, 46-74, 87-51, 37-87, 96-45, 68-0.

Meanwhile, Khurram and Mohammad Asif emerged group A and D champions respectively. They will be joined by five cueists on completion of the league on Tuesday.
