KARACHI: The pair of prolific scorers Rija and Naziha guided Neighbourhood Club to an exciting 35-20 victory over PECHS Girls College to win the Shaheed-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan girls basketball tournament on Monday.

The winners led 12-10 at half time. Rija and Naziha stood tall by scoring 16 and 14 points respectively while Minza scored five for the winners.

Playing at their home court, PECHS College fought gallantly but later succumbed to the opponents’ pressure. Atiqa scored six points while Harina and Fatima shared eight points.

Earlier, PECHS Girls College carved out 26-16 victory over SMB Fatima Jinnah Girls College while Neighbourhood Club gave a 17-10 drubbing to Bahria Girls College.

Chairman of the Private Schools Management Association Khalid Shah, who graced the occasion, gave away the prizes.

Speaking on the occasion, he announced to sponsor an Inter-school boys and girls basketball tournament separately in December. Principal of the PECHS College Tether Fatima lauded the efforts of Karachi Basketball Association for promoting healthy activities amongst the womenfolk.
