The former spokesperson of Balochistan government and central secretary information National Party (NP), Jan Buledi, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life as unidentified miscreants attacked his convoy in district Kech on Wednesday, said officials.

Levies officials told DawnNews that suspected miscreants opened indiscriminate fire at Buledi's vehicle, injuring Buledi's son and two security guards. The injured were rushed to Turbat, the district headquarter for medical treatment.

Jan Buledi was heading to Turbat from his hometown Buleda when his vehicle came under attack, a senior government official told DawnNews.

Levies personnel and officials of other law enforcement agencies reached the spot as the investigation into the incident went underway.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri was quick to condemned the incident and directed the Commissioner Makran Division to apprehend the elements involved in the attack.

"Such attacks against common civilians negate social and tribal values of Balochistan", the chief minister said in a condemnation statement issued to the press after the incident.

Turbat, Buleda, Zamran and other areas of district Kech are considered to be the most sensitive areas of the province.
