
KARACHI: Work is in full swing for the construction of Pakistan’s first softball stadium in Karachi.
This was stated by the president of Sindh Softball Association (SSA), Muhammad Salim Rajput, here on Tuesday. He also visited the site of the stadium to inspect the on-going construction work of the facility.
Rajput was accompanied on the occasion by Secretary General of Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) Asif Azeem.
He said that all the required facilities of international standard for Softball would be made available at the stadium. These include playing field, players dressing rooms, pavilion, gymnasium, jogging track etc.
Rajput said that this facility would not only benefit the players from the city, province of Sindh as well as entire country. He stated that with the completion of the stadium Pakistan would be able to host teams from abroad.
Asif said on the occasion that Sindh would host the 14th National Women’s Softball Championship later this year and termed this as confidence on the SSA.
He stated that Softball Federation of Pakistan was making efforts to invite teams from Iran, Iraq and India next year for playing matches against the Pakistan team.
Asif added that this would help provide international exposure to the Pakistani players.
