CHARSADDA: A man strangled his six-month-old baby boy to death in Saray Harichand village in the limits of Mandani police station here on Monday.

According to police, the father beat up and strangled his six-month-old son.

Mother of the child told police that her husband came home and asked her to prepare tea for him.

She said she placed her son at a charpoy beside him and went into kitchen. She said when she placed teapot on fire her son started weeping which infuriated her husband and he started beating him.

The complainant said the accused then pressed the baby’s throat with both hands. She said she ran from kitchen to save her son but it was too late.

The woman said her husband also injured her when she tried to rescue her child. She said she had taken her child to hospital, but doctors declared him dead. She said signs of torture were visible on the throat and body of her son.

The police registered FIR against the accused under section 302 of PPC on the complaint of his wife and started investigation.

Later, the police arrested the accused and presented him in a local court to get his physical remand.

The Mandani SHO said the accused had admitted to his crime.
