KARACHI, Aug 21: The employees at the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) on Thursday organized a walk to protest against the murder of Assistant Medical Director Dr Shoaib Shafiq.

A LNH statement said that some 2,000 employees of the hospital attended the walk, including those from management, faculty, junior doctors, nursing and paramedical staff.

It said that the participants walked peacefully from the LNH to the scene of the killing on the Stadium Road, where fateha was offered for the departed soul.

The protesters called for the provision of adequate security for the medical professionals.

Compensation was also demanded for the families of the victims of terrorism.

Later, the senior members of faculty and administration met with the Sindh health minister and apprised him of their concern over the target killings of doctors in Karachi.
