SWABI: The local leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz said here on Tuesday that there was no rift in the party.

They told journalists that change of office-bearers in the district by provincial leadership was aimed at strengthening the party as part of preparations for the next general elections.

They said that removal of Iftikhar Ahmad Khan from the post of district president of PML-N was in accordance with the new policy of the leadership. “No member minds it in the better interest of the party,” they added.

They said that PML-N workers were united and ready to contest the upcoming elections. They said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and its coalition partners in the provincial government failed to deliver.

MPA Shiraz Khan says they are ready for next general polls

Mr Iftikhar had remained PML-N district president for 22 consecutive years. MPA Shiraz Khan has been nominated district president of the party and Dildar Khan remained general secretary. Mr Shiraz said that he was ready to play his role in strengthening the party in the district.

Sources said that Mr Iftikhar would be nominated central senior vice-president of PML-N and a notification in that connection was expected to be issued soon.

VISIT: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak is scheduled to visit the district on Wednesday (today) because PTI chairman Imran Khan is not coming to Swabi.

The visit of PTI chief to the district has been postponed for the second time. Anwar Haqdad, PTI district president, said that earlier it was planned that Imran Khan would lay foundation stone of Education City in Kotha area of the district but he could not come due to his busy schedule.

KILLED: A man was killed and his brother was injured when blood relatives clashed here on Tuesday in the limits of City policed station.

Injured Shahid Khan, who was taken to Bacha Khan Medical Complex Shahmansoor, told police that they had a dispute over a house with their relative Jamil Khan. He said that Jamil and his son Abid opened firing on them after exchange of hot words. As a result his brother Shahid Khan was killed on the spot. The suspects managed to escape.
