SIALKOT: Two persons were injured and the rail traffic remained suspended for about two hours on Sialkot-Sambrial-Wazirabad track after a collision between a railway engine and a car on the bridge over Upper Chenab Canal near Sambrial on Sunday.

According to police, a railway engine was going to Sialkot from Sambrial and when it was crossing the bridge a car appeared through gateless railway crossing.

The railway engine and car collided with each other. The two car riders, who could not be identified, received minor injuries.

They had left the car on the track just as the railway engine hit it. The car was badly damaged. The rail traffic remained suspended from 1pm to 3pm.

The railway officials from Sialkot and Sambrial reached the spot and removed the railway engine from the track.

The engine driver, Muhammad Bashir, told the police the engine’s brakes had failed when he tried brake to stop the engine.
