KARACHI: After a slow start and picking up pace on Day 2, Fashion Pakistan Week ‘17 Winter Festive more than redeemed itself with fashion week stalwarts Adnan Pardesy, Maheen Khan and a grand finale by Sana Safinaz. Other designers showcased on the last day on Thursday included Tena Durrani, Nauman Arfeen and Saira Shakira.
With choreography by Frieha Altaf and hair and make-up by N-Pro and N-Gents, Tena Durrani’s intense wedding wear set the mood for day three’s bridal extravaganza with a mute palette and rich embroidery and fabrics.
Nauman Arfeen ticked all the boxes with his regal groom wear and also scored on multiple counts with elegant women’s wear by working with heavy embroideries on delicate sheer fabric among other techniques.
The bridal extravaganza ends on a high note
‘A Monsoon Wedding’ with intricate mosaic borders and jewel tones by Saira Shakira juxtaposed silk thread embroidery with metallic elements in embellishments while the cuts remained a fusion of East and West.
Adnan Pardesy’s ‘Riwayat’ crafted in luxe fabrics was an attempt to create individual pieces of art with heritage in full fashion focus. From stark whites pitted with multicolour bling elements to icy greys and greens offset by silver followed by gold on maroon and bronze on black, the bridals were a triumph hands down. The segment featured jewellery by Jaipur & Co.
‘The Lion & The Muse’ in classic Maheen Khan signature style played with texture, cuts and silhouettes for looks that ranged from formal evening wear to the classic festive. She chose rich fabrics in stark tones while focusing on draping.
The backstage management on all days was by Munira and Amir Lakhani and the team at 021 with PR and media management by Fareshteh Aslam and the team at Talking Point.
The separate show and grand finale by Sana Safinaz showcased a sum total of 50 outfits in what were variations of their classic bridal wear and heavy formals to classic evening wear.
