Shaheen Shah Afridi, a young fast bowler from Khyber Agency, has signed a two-year contract with Dhaka Dynamites, a major Bangladesh Premier league (BPL) franchise, sources said on Sunday.

Under the new contract with Dynamites, Shaheen, 17, will play with cricket greats such as Shahid Afridi, Shane Watson, Shakib Al Hasan and Kumar Sangakkara in BPL's fifth season later this year.

Shaheen has represented Pakistan in three under-19 T20 matches before.

With a bowling style that resembles Mitchell Starc's, Shaheen has not only impressed former greats including Mushtaq Ahmed and Waqar Younis, but also left cricket fans in awe with his videos doing rounds on Youtube.

Although famous for his in-swingers, the left-arm pacer can swing the ball both ways and has the ability to bowl at above 90mph.

Shaheen played his only Under-19 Asia Cup match against Bangladesh last year in which he managed to take two wickets.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise has also offered him to play in the league's third season next year, sources say.

Shaheen has also been trained by Peshawar Zalmi's assistant coach Abdul Rehman, who is among Peshawar's most prominent cricket coaches.
