RAWALPINDI: The decomposed body of a woman was found at her husband’s house in Gulzar-i-Quaid while a man was gunned down in Naseerabad on Friday, police said.

The woman, identified as Nayab Bibi, was living with her husband Mohammad Rauf Bhatti since their marriage seven years ago.

Ms Riffat, the mother of the deceased, complained to the police that Mr Bhatti used to torture her daughter since he married her. She said her son-in-law also used to threaten her daughter. Ms Riffat said when she along with her son Adil visited her daughter’s house two months ago, they found her beaten by her husband. Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Ali said Mr Bhatti contacted the police on Thursday night and asked to accompany him as his house had been locked from outside.

The SP said as the police reached the house, they found the woman’s decomposed body inside.

“The cause and time of the murder can only be known after the postmortem report is received. However, the husband of the woman has been arrested after registration of a murder case against him,” the SP said.

Meanwhile, Tahir Mehmood, who was in his 40s, was gunned down and his nephew Deen Mohammad shot and injured by their rivals on Friday.

Police said Tahir alias Mithoo along with his nephew was going to the district courts for the proceeding of a murder case registered against his father in 2016 when they were intercepted by their rivals.
