Show-cause notices for juice manufacturers

ISLAMABAD: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) on Thursday issued show-cause notices to six fruit juice manufacturers for misleading consumers and engaging in deceptive marketing practices.

An inquiry conducted by the CCP found six fruit juice manufacturers — Nestle Pakistan Limited, Shezan International Limited, Citropak Limited, A F International, Sunland Foods and Maaher Food Industries (Pvt) Limited — were making unjustifiable claims about their products and thereby indulging in prima facie violation of Section 10 of the Competition Act.

The CCP inquiry found that Nestle claimed “100 percent Orange Juice” on the packaging of ‘Nestle Fruita Vitals Orange Juice’, Shezan printed “100 percent Juice” and “Rich in Vitamins” on the packaging of ‘All pure’, Citropak used a slogan “100 percent Pure” for its brand ‘Fruiten’, A F International printed “Mango 100 percent” and “Pure Fruit Juice” on the packaging of its fruit juice ‘Topix’, Sunland Foods claimed “100 percent Pure Guava Juice”, “100 percent Pure Mango Juice”, “Rich in Vitamin C” and “Natural Flavors, No Artificial Colors” on the packaging of ‘Fruit Farm’ juices and Maaher Food Industries labeled “From 100 percent Pure Fruits” on the packaging of Country juices.—Staff Reporter

ABL holds financial awareness seminar

QUETTA: Allied Bank Ltd on Thursday organised a financial awareness seminar to support agriculture and boost credit to small and medium enterprises in Balochistan.

Engro launches IATC Awards

KARACHI: Engro launched the ‘I Am The Change’ (IATC) Awards 2017 to recognise and reward philanthropic and social enterprises which are creating an impact in the development space, a press release issued on Thursday said.

Organisations may file their nominations on the IATC website till Sept 12, 2017. The recipients in each category will be awarded Rs2 million after jurors’ decision.

Zong to increase number of 4G sites

KARACHI: Zong 4G aims to scale up its network by increasing the number of its 3G/4G sites to around 10,500 by the end of this year, said a press release.

“Any revenue earned would be spent back on the people of Pakistan to give them a stable, advanced and reliable network,” said Maham Dard, company spokesperson and Director Corporate Affairs and Strategy.
