QUETTA: Justice Ejaz Swati of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Balochistan Assembly member Abdul Majeed Khan Achakzai, upholding the decision of Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai.

Mr Achakzai was arrested at his home in June in a hit-and-run case in which a traffic sergeant was killed.

A BHC division bench, comprising the chief justice and Justice Hashim Kakar, heard the bail application last week. The chief justice rejected the application, while Justice Kakar granted the bail.

The case was then referred to Justice Swati as referee judge, who heard the application and reserved the judgement on Friday.

The reserved judgement was announced on Wednesday.
