CHAKWAL: Scores of commuters were deprived of cash and cell phones at Thaneel Kamal-Dullah Road during a robbery on Monday evening, the victims told Dawn on Wednesday.

This is the second robbery in three days. The Neelah Police have reportedly not registered any FIR as yet.

Two armed robbers having their faces covered started looting commuters at the time of sunset, the victims say adding as many as two dozens of people were robbed.

Two employees of Islamabad Electric Supply Company were also among the robbery victims.

“We were robbed of Rs13,000 and two cell phones provided by Iesco,” a line man said. He added that another commuter who was coming after selling sacrificial animal was robbed of Rs150,000 along with cell phone.

None of the victim dared to report the incident to police.

“A police team from Neelah Police Station arrived at the scene after robbers managed to escape but the officials discouraged us to file a report. They asked us that they would trace the robbers on their own,” a victim said.

On Saturday, the robbers looted eight commuters at Dhakku-Joya Myer Road.

Separately, burglars deprived four families in Mehro, three families in Khanewal and one family in Neelah village of cash and jewellery worth millions of rupees.

When contacted, SHO Neelah Police Station Faisal Manzoor first expressed his ignorance about the Monday robbery incident. But when details were shared with him he replied as, “Nobody has filed any report of the incident.”
