KARACHI, Aug 16: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, speaking at a ceremony held to observe 42nd death anniversary of Baba-i-Urdu Molvi Abdul Haq on Saturday said that the movement for promotion of urdu also stood for solidarity of Pakistan.

He said that immediately after attaining independence Urdu was not given its due importance and as such our national language could not grow in the country, and added that if Urdu had been accorded its due status of national language then the tragic fall of country’s eastern wing might have been avoided.

He said Molvi Abdul Haq was one of the benefactors of Pakistan who worked for the progress and cohesion of the country.

He lauded the appointment of Pirzada Qasim as the vice-chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, terming him the most suitable person for the job.—APP
