MUZAFFARABAD: Leader of the opposition in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin has filed a reference for the disqualification of Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider.

The reference was submitted in the Legislative Assembly secretariat on his behalf by a local PPP leader on Thursday.

“By propagating against the cause of accession of Kashmir to Pakistan following the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif by the apex court of Pakistan, Raja Farooq Haider has not only violated the oath taken (by him) as MLA and Prime Minister, but has also rendered himself disqualified from being an MLA under section 25(2) read with section 24(2)(f) of the AJK Interim Constitution Act 1974 and section 5(2) vii) of the AJK Legislative Assembly (Elections) Ordinance, 1970 and also 13(4) of Schedule First of the Constitution,” reads the reference, available to Dawn.

Mr Yasin urged the Legislative Assembly speaker to forward his reference to the AJK chief election commissioner for declaring Mr Haider disqualified from being an MLA and prime minister with effect from July 29, 2017.
