SIALKOT, Aug 15: Sialkot district bar association president Chaudhry Munawar Hussain Warraich and SCCI vice-president also filed their nomination papers on Wednesday for the election of the district Naib Nazim.

Shaikh Nadeem Ali (General Pervaiz Musharraf Inqalabi Forum president), Arsal Waqar Ahmad Ghuman, Chaudhry Imran Othi (Glotiyan union council Nazim), Rana Muhammad Afzal, Sardar Anwar Ahmad Khan, Nazir Ahmad Awan (PPP Kissan Wing district president) and Nasir Mehmood Cheema had also filed their nomination papers.

The seat of the district naib nazim had been lying vacant since October, 2002, when Ali Asjad Malhi had opted to contest the election for NA-13, Daska.

Korean team: A five-member team of Korean technicians has arrived here to provide special training to the labour force in factories for improving production and quality of the leather garments.

According to a press release issued here on Friday by Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PLGMEA), North Zone, the Korean technicians would stay in Sialkot for 10 weeks.

It said the foreign team would help improve efficiency of the labour force, production of high quality leather garments besides upgrading the Sialkot’s export-oriented leather garments industry. The cost of the upgradation programme had been estimated at 165,000 dollars.

During its five-month-long visit to Pakistan, the Korean team would stay in Sialkot for 10 weeks, in Lahore for two weeks and in Karachi for two months.

The team would visit various leather garments manufacturing units in Sialkot on Saturday (today), the press release added.
