LARKANA: Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) founder Prof Dr Adibul Hasan Rizvi has selected a building to establish the SIUT Larkana.

Accompanying his team members, Larkana commissioner, mayor and others, the renowned urologist visited the old building of the Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) that it had lately vacated and two new blocks constructed adjacent to it and agreed to start the health facility there very soon.

Speaking at an event after planting a Neem tree on the premises, he said that initially the SIUT Larkana would house 25 dialysis machines. Kidney patients from this area had to travel to the SIUT Sukkur while facing certain problems, he said.

He said the SUIT Larkana would work round the clock and patients would get treatment indiscriminately and there would be no concept of favour in treating patients.

He appreciated the efforts of Larkana Commissioner Mohammed Abbas Baloch, who had contributed to the establishment of the centre.

The commissioner said he was short of words to thank Prof Dr Rizvi who, despite a lot of engagements, visited the site for setting up the SUIT Larkana unit.

Mayor Mohammed Aslam Shaikh said the credit of establishing SIUT there went to the PPP’s top leadership and commissioner.

Prof Dr Ghulam Asghar Channa, Vice Chancellor of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), offered maximum cooperation to the SIUT’s staff and requested Prof Rizvi to impart training to the doctors of that institution.

Prof Adib later inaugurated a closed-circuit camera television project of the SMBBMU installed at a cost of Rs36 million in Chandka Medical College.

The Higher Education Commission and SMBBMU have jointly financed the project that would cover Chandka Medical College, Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Benazir Institute of Nursing and Community Health, pharmacy department, engineering wing of the university and other establishments.

Prof Rizvi was presented with the traditional gifts of Sindhi cap and Ajrak on the occasion.
