Flintstones-style house sells in California

A California house designed to resemble a home from the Flintstones cartoon sold for $2.8 million, according to Judy Meuschke of Alain Pinel Realtors. The property features a rounded, stone-like exterior with grey and orange walls, closely resembling the cave-like homes in the Flinstones’ home of Bedrock City.

An unofficial California landmark, the cartoonish 2,730-square-foot home is located in Hillsborough, about 17 miles south of San Francisco. Architect William Nicholson constructed the house in 1996. Nicholson achieved the building’s unique look by placing steel rebar and wire mesh frames over inflated weather balloons covered in gunite.

The interior of the home, which includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a conversation pit and a game room, maintains the prehistoric decor with its rocklike walls.

Uncle Grandpa to teach English

Turner Asia Pacific announced that it is partnering with Korean mobile product developer Qualson to launch a new app that uses Cartoon Network shows and characters to teach the English language to users of different ages.

The app will feature characters from Cartoon Network shows like Uncle Grandpa, We Bare Bears, The Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, and The Regular Show. Targeted for launch in October in South Korea, there are future plans to roll out the app in other Asian markets including Japan, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Qualson is the publisher of Super Fan, an English teaching app that has exploded in popularity this year and currently ranks as the number 1 educational app in South Korea. The new Cartoon Network app will use a subscription model and targets both kids and adults who want to “improve their fluency in both listening and speaking English.”
