LAHORE: Rangers and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 21 members of banned outfits in joint operations in various areas of the city.
According to a news release issued by the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR), the law-enforcement agencies conducted operations in Lahore and arrested 21 members of banned outfits including Tehreek-i-Taliban Swat (TTS), unregistered Afghan nationals and a kidnapper gang during the last 24 hours.The LEAs also recovered weapons and ammunition from the custody of the suspects who were later shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
In another operation, a CTD spokesman claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two members of proscribed organisation from Gujranwala.
He said police received information that two members of a banned outfit were present in a house near Sharifpura Chowk on GT Road and were planning to attack sensitive installations in Gujranwala.
He said the police team conducted the raid at the house and arrested suspects Abdul Ghafar and Shah Jahan.
He said they also recovered 1,235 grams explosive, two detonators and 45 inch prima cord from their possession.
He said they also registered a case under section 4/5 ESA and 7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) against the suspects and shifted them to undisclosed location for interrogation.
